Case Study Overview

This Window covering retailer business agreed to share their Google Ads results but they wished to remain anonymous.

The majority of their leads came from direct mail and yellow pages. They tried to run Google Ads on their own but they weren’t getting any results.

They came to me with the goal of bumping their internet traffic and getting their phone to ring. 

They only got about 5 leads per month and their cost per lead was $200 which was a ridiculously high price for a single lead.

Strategy

I created a brand new campaign, this time with multiple themed ad groups that were targeting people searching everything for”shutter window”, “inside window shutters”, “shutter repairs”,  “plantation shutters”, etc.

-Based on their previous advertising data, I’ve created a large negative keyword list in order to prevent irrelevant traffic from coming to our pages.

-Added more ad extensions to increase the size of our ad and get more real estate/visibility in the SERPs.

– Used their GMB Listing to create a “location extension” which enabled their ad to appear in the Google Map section.

 

The results

In the first 30 days, I was able to increase their volume of leads and to reduce cost per lead by 70%. I achieved this through highly thematized ad groups and high converting landing pages & Ad copies.

Eventually, we found a low-hanging fruit for this client by focusing more on shutter repairs. By doing this we were able to get a much lower CPC ($1.50) which brought them more customers to the door, and one in three of those repair customers bought window coverings.
